The Rose Mapendo Foundation endeavors to help orphans and widows in the DR Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi to work together regardless of religious, tribal, or political differences to achieve peace and reconciliation in the region, and also to cultivate the potential of disadvantaged working women and orphans through education, healthcare, vocational training and community development so that they can succeed in life.

In 2021, Rose founded the Women United for Peace Orphanage in Minembwe, South Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The program provides care and support for 40 orphaned children, including housing, food, and school supplies. Through this work, Rose demonstrates her belief that protecting children and investing in education are essential steps toward rebuilding communities affected by conflict.

In South Kivu, DRC, the aftermath of war leaves behind invisible wounds. Widows and orphans face a daily battle for survival without access to even the most basic healthcare.
